Sound in Motion Teams
Dance teams at Sound in Motion are a little different in the fact that we require team members to social dance weekly, take group classes, and take private lessons. This is by far the best way to improve as a dancer! We do all of our own choreography and are not a franchise team! Costumes are decided among the dancers, and dedicated to improving your dancing! You will get better as a dancer on our teams. All of our dance teams include 2-hour team practice each week, all group classes, parties, and in-house workshops at Sound in Motion. In order to improve you should take private lessons, which are offered at a discount for team members! Ask any pro or good dancer how many private lessons they have taken and they will tell you they don’t know because they have taken so many.
Dance teams are a great way to get more individualized attention, and more intensive work on your dance technique. Here at Sound In Motion, teams are a great way to round out your dancing. – you have a great group of people who are all working toward the same goal. Our performance teams travel and perform regularly at events in and out of the state. If you are looking to take your dancing to the next level, stay connected for information regarding the next team audition. Here are our teams. Please contact us if you would like to have a performance at your event.
Sound in Motion Ladies Bachata Team
Sound in Motion Ladies Bachata is a performance team, but with a twist. This team is all about creating a sisterhood of dancers who are willing to work hard to explore movement, discover ourselves, work through our fears of performing, body issues, and expression to find, become and embrace your own inner DIVA!
What this team is:
• A place for women of all abilities, sizes and shapes to work to become amazing, beautiful dancers.
• It is a place for women to feel safe about learning to express emotions through dance. It’s about learning how to move to the music.
• It is a place for women to discover the benefit and challenge of performing without having to worry about inappropriate costumes or movement.
• It’s about finding your inner diva and growing her, and then showing her to the world.
Currently, these ladies are working on a choreography to be performed locally, at at Reno Latin Dance Fest in January 2018!
Accelerated Social Salsa and Bachata Training
Who is This For
These non-performance, 6-month training intensive teams are for level two dancers who want to social dance regularly and get better quickly. Not just learn chorography for a performance.
In this social dance training, we focus on connection, balance, spinning technique, timing, weight transfer, and styling for both leaders and followers. We will of course be working on complicated moves as well! We will also teach you how to better apply what you learn so you can take what you learn to the social dance floor faster.
Our accelerated social programs are designed in two 6-month segments throughout the year (January-June, July-December).
For our Accelerated Social Salsa Team, the two 6 month segments are Salsa On1 and Salsa On2.
For our Accelerated Bachata Team, the two 6 month segments are Modern (with some Dominican) and Sensual.
The training is 2.5 hours per week. Two hours of instruction and 30 minutes of social dancing to apply what you have just learned. The class structure looks like this:
◊ 30 minutes of body isolations and spin drills.
◊ 15 minutes of footwork drills.
◊ 30 minutes for partnering drills.
◊ 45 minutes of partnering moves and concepts.
◊30-minute of non-optional social dancing. This is where the growth occurs!
The drills will be progressive as the team becomes more advanced with more styling being added.
Team membership includes all group classes, in-house workshops, and all parties. It does not include intensives or anything with an outside instructor.
If you want to shave years from your learning to dance, then this is for you!
Our partnering teams are limited to ten leads and ten followers so sign up early!
